Our Services at Linda's House, Inc.
At Linda's House some of the training the women will be receiving will be: training in medical fields, such as LPN's or aides, medical billing and coding. Beauty and/or barber school, culinary school and other fields that they may want to obtain structural education in. They will be allowed to obtain a GED if necessary and college credits where warranted. During the first 30 days, the women will be given the opportunity to settle in, set up transportation, and get their paperwork in order for Social Services for whatever aid they may be in need of. This will be the beginning of them taking responsibility for themselves. They will be responsible for paying their room and board. There will be a house supervisor on the premises at all times. During this time we will do an assessment to determine their individual needs. This will help in determining what course of study they would like to pursue. If spiritual counseling is requested, we will help with contacting local ministers and churches to fulfill that need also.
Days 31 thru 60 we will help set them up in school. There are several programs in our area that a GED may be obtained, either in the classroom or home based (online). There are also colleges that the women will be able to attend. One of the colleges offers an "Open House" every Thursday that would allow the women to speak with counselors and set up pre testing. Most of the schools have job placement for their graduates. We will encourage them to take at least some kind of vocational training; this will allow women to enter the workforce sooner than a two year degree would. For the women that go to vocation school we will work with temporary agencies in the area. If you are interested and would like some more information on what we have to offer visit our CONTACT PAGE.
After the women have been in our house for more than 60 days they will be going to school. Most times the women will be attending daytime classes, unless they get a job while attending school. On average the women will be in our facility for 8 to 9 months, especially when doing vocational training. The women probably will not go over 18 months, unless they are doing a two year degree. We will require that the women get a volunteer position or job that they attend about 15-20 hours a week.
